asking for asylum means telling govt of annother country that their own country could not guarantee their safety. Thus asking for a place to live and start a new life without fear of returning to the home country. Using passport from home country means that the person trusts his/her govt to provide safety and other diplomatic help incase of emergency. Asylee should not use passport of home country, instead they can be issued travel document and can return back safely.
