All of us who live in the US of A know that how outrageous can the medical cost be here. I underwent a minor surgery in 2009. It took only about 15-20 minutes with local anesthesia. After around one hour rest in hospital, I was sent home and resumed my regular duties from the next day. The bill came for $ 7000.00 most of which got covered by my health insurance and I ended up paying $ 1600 out of my pocket. A doctor working for a nepali hospital told me that the tentative cost of such surgery in Nepal would cost about Rs. 2000 in Bir hospital and Rs. 5000 to 8000 in private hospital around that time. Now look at the difference of the cost.

Now considering the cost for the fatal disease of the prime minister, cost of travel as well as living expenses of his and his entourage for so long duration, I don't think there is much room to doubt about the estimate cost of Rs. 10-15 crores.

My question is, in the whole world why did he chose to go to Usa for his treatment. Is there not a single good hospital in Nepal or in India for that matter? I am not against country's paying his medical bills but why on earth, USA? Should a poorest country like Nepal bear such expenses for its leaders?
