Found a lot of response on this thread about American Football vs Soccer. Football is great to watch and soccer is great to play. I used to watch Italian series broadcasted by Nepal TV back in 90s and was a huge fan of it. I lost all of soccer thing when I came to America and got hooked with NFL, NBA, MLB and little NHL. Seriously I find NFL more exciting than soccer for the facts that it has lot of individual stats and it is not monotonous like soccer. The worst things about soccer are referee blowing calls , diving, few substitutes and lack of implementation of more sophisticated technology to improve the fairness of the game. Team prepare for 4 years to play for world cup and one decision cost the match and the whole tournament. I felt bad for team Mexico this year. But I enjoy world cup more than anything else. It's jut not about football (soccer) but its about the celebration of life, people, color, culture and the sport itself. The only thing I wanted to say on the above thread is that some people don't want to like soccer. It's like my god is better than yours analogy. Many Americans are egocentric and they don't want to see soccer taking over football. They feel insecure about their sports when soccer fever runs high in this country. But this year soccer has been more popular than before, It has higher ratings than world series and NBA final this year. The popularity of soccer will depend even more on how far US team can go into this world cup. I hope they reach semi-final. Its better for soccer. Also hope that US get to host world cup sooner than later. Its unlikely keeping in mind that they might have to face Argentina in quarter final. But hey...who thought Algeria would give hard time to Germany today. So Believe! Go team USA!!!
