Whoa! Turns out I've been misinformed! I stand corrected and wish to thank you for bringing that up.

Got this off the internet. "If you travel for over 6 months (but less than a year) at one time, there is a “rebuttable presumption" of disruption of the continual residence. However, as long as you prove that you still have employment, residency, immediate family etc. in the U.S., then even if you travel for over 6 months in one time (still less than 1 year) you should be fine."
