Something to ponder upon

Just to clarify my stance as well. I don't think there is something called an absolute atheist, because if there is an absolute proof of god that is discovered or witnessed or imminent, then there would be no such thing as an atheist.

Same thing with aliens. There are people who believe in them, there are those who are not sure and there are those who do not believe at all. But let's say one of these days, aliens do come down from the skies and make their presence known then there is no doubt about their existence. It becomes part of the reality and part of the truth that we know for sure.

Therefore, there is no such thing as an absolute atheist. An atheist may be unsure about God's existence to a higher degree than an agnostic, but he cannot be an absolute atheist due to the possibility of the existence.

While the proof of existence can be shown in an absolute reproducible way, there is no way to prove inexistence, so the yay sayers seems to hold the default advantage.

That is why the believers hold their belief as more absolute than the non believers because you cannot prove something does not exist in the vastness of the universe because there is too much unchartered territory.

This is comparable to the age old saying "looking for a needle in the haystack". The believers believe that the needle exists but they cannot find it. The non believers believe the needle does not exist. The believers come up with stories like their great grandfather dropped the needle in the haystack according to a book they found in the attic. The non believers don't believe it till the needle is found.

I think the non believers are more practical in their beliefs than the believers. By non believers, i mean the agnostic. I think all atheists and agnostics are waiting for some kind of proof that shows that the believers are right, while the believers are happy to put together stories of greatness and supernatural together to find a glorious meaning to their otherwise mundane life
