I was about to say the same thing. There's much hatred towards NFL because people just hear $9B industry which is tax exempt. The fact is that the team owners take the money and also pay taxes.

However, since the precedence is there, with MLB being for profit entity, an argument can be made for NFL to give up the not-for-profit status. I am specially pissed, when this not-for-profit org which enjoys the perks from tax payers (stadiums get all kinds of money from the government), doesn't let a fan see non-local games without buying the expensive Direct TV package.

For now, I think I will reserve my signature for a more worthy petition.
