Thanks to Marich for pointing out Sitara's wonderful article. To Sitara - you're just wonderful in how you write, and more importantly what is inside of you - 'karuna' indeed to humanity. Following is a little piece I wrote in a site somplace else in a discussion similar to this. Just to support your view, in a way. It is aweful what happened in Iraq. Twelve innocent Nepalis were slaughtered by extremists, terrorists. Even to this day, I can't bare to watch the video on internet the killings that took place in Iraq of these twelve innocent people. (I wathced the beheading of Nicholas Berg, and for three hours or so, I was in a fog, dazed what was going around me. So, the description I got from people that watched the Nepali beheading followed by the close range shootings of the eleven others, just seem too much for me to take). And then in anger, our own fellow Nepalese in Kathmandu go on rage, rioting, burning and killing innoncent Muslims. These Muslims in Nepal had nothing to do with the killings in Iraq - so what's the point? People who killed twelve Nepalese in Iraq are called, extremeists, terrorists, or simply bad people. Does anyone have names like that for the people in Kathamandu looking to maim and kill just as innocent Muslims? They are terrorists, extremists, and simply put, bad people. What's the difference between those Iraqi extremists and the Nepali extremists? Not much, in my humble view. When the twelve innocent Nepalese went to Iraq for a job to make a little better living for themselves and their families, they knew a little bit of the danger that came along with their employment in the warzone of Iraq. But, when (and I don't know how long they've been there) the Muslims came to live in Kathamandu, they may have heard, perhaps, about the peaceful Nepal and it's peace loving citizens. Boy, were they wrong! As bad as I feel about the 12 Nepalese or any other innocent citizens being killed in Iraq, I am amazed to see this outpouring or sympathy for the 12 Nepalese that were slain in Iraq and not much of a disgust and any actions on more than 10,000 Nepalis being killed by each other in the past few years in this Maoists insurgengy in the whole of Nepal. In brief - as far as the riots go in Kathmandu, all I have to say is, two wrongs don't make one right.
