It is true that while none of us might have wholly understood her message and it is entirely possible we both might have two different interpretation. But, wouldn't it be such a shame, that you or I watched entrire 5:45 minutes video, spend a lengthy amount of time commenting on this thread and totally missing the point. I feel very strongly on this, and I take it as a moral obligation that I must put forward what i have understood upon you. My theory is there are many reason why you might have missed the point such as due to lack of comprehension of language as a medium of communication, preconcieved notion and baisedness (towards particular sex,age and not limited to these), etc but I will not delve into this as I want to focus on the message itself.

At any point of time, if you feel that I am forcing my words into your mouth or if I come accross as a fanatic with a particular dogma, you are free to ignore my comments. If you are willing to engage in meaningful discussion, only please then scroll further down.

My interpretation of her video was "try to be positive and being supportive?" which i reiterate and of which I stand by solemly.

No where did this young girl mentioned "to support inferior quality of work solely based on national identity". This is the point which you blatantly missed.

Regarding your comment and it's structure, if you think you were providing positive criticism, I would love to differ. It was an example of "How not to structure Positive Criticism?"

Let me go pointwise.

At point no. 1 you begin with an agreement , "नेपाली भाषा बोलेर बढी राष्ट्रप्रेमी हुने र अङ्रेजी, हिन्दी भाषा बोल्दा चाँही राष्ट्रप्रेमी नहुने भन्ने कुरामा म कति पनि सहमत छैन ।" And you end your point with comparision with "Rabi Lamichane" and express your doubts and disagreement.

Here, you are missing the whole point about positive criticism and as a matter of you are providing analogy which is totally irrelevant.

I feel, the primary objective of Rabi Lamichane's program was to project Nepal as a country where Buddha was born and the primary objective of her "Nepal Nach" was to have fun with fellow Nepalese accross the border. Providing glimpse into Nepalese lifestyle or people can be considered as one of the tertiary objectives of such program. So such comparision in no way provides positive reinforcement. Rather you are expressing doubts regarding efficacy about Rabi Lamichane's work.

At point no. 2 You are once again coming up with absurd analogies such as people taking day off to support CNN hero solely based on her identity, Sms voting for Indian Idol, Nepalese cheering for Nepalese cricket team. Most of these analogies are bad example of supporting Nepalese people soley based on their origin. When did the girl in the video provide such example or why are you providing such analogies.

Besides that, you have also put in "Nepalese people are happy when their national Cricket team is victorious". Is that a bad thing? I used to be Happy when my national football team used to win also. Is there any issue with this?

And here you end the point with talk of politics which is once again irrelevant. I am certain most discussion relating to politics carry negative connotation and darker image, why are you bringing this up here? I don't see any positive reinforcement here.

At point no. 3 You talk about speaking the truth, if something is bad, we should say it is bad irrespective of things such a national identity or origin. You end the point with "यो कुरा चाँही पक्का हो कि 'नेपाल नाच्छ' कार्यक्रमको youtube भिडियोमा गरिएका थुप्रै कमेन्टहरु अत्यन्तै अशिष्ट छन् र भद्दा छन्" but I feel you are still not providing positive reinforcement. If some one is doing something wrong, have guts to stand out and say it is wrong loud and clear. Way to miss the point huh?

At point no. 4 I feel I don't feel the girl in the video in anyway frustrated rather she is expressing herself and requesting fellow Nepalese to refrain from using abusing language in public forum, youtube and internet. Yes, we all learn from mistake and we should take ciriticism positively but can you once again explain me what her mistake was. I felt you didnot do a good job in providing positive criticism.

I am not sure if i did a good job at explaining myself to you. But I did what i think was required.

You refered to me  with a question "And who told you not to compare apples and oranges?"

I would answer ,"No one." You and I are both free to make comparision but it makes no sense when you make such analogies when you are talking about positive ciritcism.

And Lastly I am not super protective, I just want you to get the message.

And please for God's shake do not come up with such ludacris ideas such as positing image from 1st search query for "apples vs oranges" in google. In my mind those things take away your credibilty when engaging in discussion.

Don't get me wrong here, I am not here to personally attack you, well I personally don't know you and it is vice versa. But I do want you to continue to make attempt at positive criticism. Nepalese youth do require a lot of that. It was just that this was not a good example and the whole video was about it.

"Positive criticism doesnot mean that we blindly support everything based on relational identity." AJAX
