PAKHE AND KHATE

Educate me here. When somebody says Danda-Pakha, Danda means hills and Pakha means the plain below the hill; isn't it? I wouldn't call Kathmandu a hill, it's a valley and is surrounded by hills. So wouldn't it be more close to being called a Pakha? Let me know if I got this wrong.

I am afraid you guys aren't getting our gist here. I agree with magorkhe in that you can't take everything said in literal meaning. I use swear words every now and then myself. The point we were trying to make was that "Pakhe" and "Khate" shouldn't be an offensive word as it is now being used. Would you agree? I mean, why a geographic orientation should be a bad thing? Also, why is Khate a bad thing?? My point is that the people who use it as derogatory terms appear to me are the ones they are referring to (in this context, one who lags behind the modern pace of the world). I have never heard these words said in an educated/sophisticated circle.
