PAKHE AND KHATE

I used to hear those two words in Kathmandu, when I was a kid. Growing up, afterwards, I didn't hear those words; maybe because almost every one of my friend were from the same place..Kathmandu. Till this date, none of my friends use this word or has used it as far as I know. When I was visiting few parts of Nepal, after my college, I heard those words being mentioned many times...mostly by the dudes who wanted to show off over there village counterparts-in village.

I now hear those words frequented in Sajha every single day. My theory is that only those people use these two words, "Pakhe" and "Khate", who they think they are referring to.

To me, Pakhe means one from Pakha..nothing wrong with that. Kathmandu was like a Pakha. Khate was the word used for street children and there's nothing to hate about these kids but to sympathize with their condition. Why these words are used in derogetory terms, I don't know. What I know is people using terms just haven't been out too much, lack something and they try to fill that void by calling others these words; before the others use the word in them..or so they think.

Stop using those two words. If you use those words, it tells more about you than the guys you are using it for. Grow up, have some brain and don't be that backwards...the world has moved way ahead, don't drag us back. And for everybody's sake, don't embarass us!!!
