Hi Aseem (is that your name?) Well, it is now.

Aseem, I was trying to be snarky with my comment there. Your first post had two spelling errors - "kathmandu" and “reddit". Do people care about spelling errors? Maybe not all of them, but I do.  Since you asked for my opinion, I’m taking ten minutes out of my ever-so-busy Friday schedule to give you my honest opinion.

When you announce your website publicly in a forum like this, you are aiming to build people’s expectations about the website. You hope that people take a look at your website that is “under-construction”, find some elements that they like and can relate to, and hopefully come back and visit it when it is ready for the public. I glanced through your website for a couple minutes, and unless y’all upload endless videos of chimpanzees wearing suits, I don’t feel like going back. Here is why:

1)     Fire your logo-designer. Ok maybe not, but the logo is, well how do I put this in a nice way, atrocious. I like the title and the caption that follows, but I have no idea what that orange swirly thing is doing in the background. Is it supposed to be a symbol of something? Overall, it looks pretty dull, and I am being generous there.

2)     I like the World News section on the side, but why is everything so concerted in the middle of the page? The page, as it stands, looks, well, concerted, and those two blue blank sections yell at my eyes. In addition, if I wanted to read the news, why would I go to your website? I have CNN, NYT and sajha bookmarked on my browser, and you aren’t providing anything novel - which brings me to my next point.

3)     I like the idea of “sharing your experience” although it looks like you spent a lot of time at TFLN and FML (read textsfromlastnight and f**kmylife) and got inspired. Don’t get me wrong, there is nothing wrong with that. However, make that your selling point. Four out of the six tabs up there (I will let you figure which ones) look like they serve the same purpose. Maybe its just me, but I was confounded trying to decide where I should post my story about Friday afternoon blues.  If you can work around the tabs and make it more appealing/easy for people to share their experience/story (however you describe it), you might get more visitors. Also, remove the gazillion “This is a test” posts. Replace them with actual posts you come up with. That’ll keep some visitors busy while they are perusing your page.

4)     Its “Keep in touch”, not “Be in touch”.

I sound a tad bitchy, but that’s my honest opinion. Good luck!

I didn't bother to spell-check my post, so keep your spelling edits to yourselves, sajha people. I'm not the one building a website.
