I also have to say that the people are enjoying the show. In the early days the neighbourd fathers, uncles, and the older brothers use to stone the rabid dogs to its death. Now instead of the neighborhood uncles the hawaldaar is assigned to kill the dog.

I wish they had darted the dog to unconsciousness and then youthanized it properly without public view access but that is just the way we do things in Nepal. It is easy to blame the hawaldaar and feel better about ourselves compared to him but the fundamental issue of us as a society not having too much respect for another life and our inconsistent judgement with the animals remains the same.
