If you mean "smart" by Nepali standard --He was able to cheat and trick everyone all the time, then indeed, he was very smart in School.

Other than that, he had a poor academic record. He was the only student in his batch to fail in SLC. I guess despite numerous red flags, the school didn't take any action owing to his superior oratory skills that he showcased in numerous elocution contests. But then, like many students, the school probably thought he'd snap out of it after his teenage years.

He sure is one for the ages!
