I disagree with the notion that we're 'unfortunate'. What about 10s of millions of dollars sent to Nepal from the states as remittance money? What about the standards of Nepalis' lives that rises once they come to the states? Sure, you can argue that they're likely to struggle through different phrases - be it as a student, unskilled workers or even a fob in the form of a DV winner but it's only a matter of time before their hardwork pays off and they start making significantly higher than what they'd do in Nepal, typically. 

If anything, it's mutual benefit, imo.
