I don't know what you have done but if your case closes this sept 30 then let me tell you clear what you will be seeing
1) did you sent DV fee ?
2) if paid did you get receipt?
3) did you sent i 485 to Chicago?
5) if sent i485 to chicago got biometric letter?
6) If got biometric letter got interview letter?
If nothing is done so far and still waiting for second letter and if your case closes by this sept 30 2012 sorry to tell you you can't do AOS
If your case closes by this sept 30 2012, a case number with below 7000 should have Done AOS 4 months ago and should have got green card in his hand by now.
