Olé, olé, olé, olé, olé,!!!!!

Lifting the third major trophy in a row after World Cup 2010 and Euro Cup 2008, Spain proved its football caliber in UEFA Euro 2012 once again. The star studded Spanish team simply remained unstoppable.

The final match between Spain and Italy in the capital city of Ukraine casted a spell on many Kathmanduties as well and kept them awoken till late midnight. No rain could stop the football fans watching live match in the big screens through projectors in the alleys of Kathmandu. Cheering and screaming lightened the euro festival. Unique and alluring Spanish style of playing left marks on the hearts of its millions of  fans. Likewise, this time too “La roja” won me delicious and yummy chocolates.

The success of Spain is not an overnight result. It is the result of investment and hard work in this beautiful game since long. Spanish football clubs are world’s one of the top football clubs. These football clubs have not only developed world-class players but heightened team spirit amongst others. Football culture has become one of the core identities of Spain.

Here, back in Nepal, we keep cursing our players for not scoring a single goal whether in the home ground or the abroad match. To be precise, our football players cannot even struggle for the football, if they do not reach the muddy ground because they are so much used to it. Our infrastructures in sports are pretty pitiful. Most of our players do not have financial strength to cure the injuries. This is the bitter truth.

We are brought up in the society showing the dreams to become doctors and engineers since our childhood; we are not raised to become football players. People laugh at you if you think that sport can earn you a financially secured life.

We always raise high expectations from our players but never analyze about meager infrastructures, inadequate diet, lack of motivation and the overall fact: lack of investment. You cannot expect returns without any investments. If you want return, you ought to invest.
