Here are some of my thoughts on why someone returns:
1. Someome whose could not find an economically sound Job here. Lets say a guy spends 10 years in earning a degree and he earns a degree in economics or human relations or other non technical subjects where H1 is not possible and even if its possible the pay is between 35K - 60K which is barely enough to make a living of a college graduate worker here. So it makes lots of sense for someone in this situation to return home where he might not have to worry about the mortgage and the bills. From the ones i see returning majority of them are in this situation. I am yet to see someone with a technical degree and is making 80K - 100K salary return back home. Even though some who return claim to state they are returning to do something for the country...it kinda looks like they are returning because they are better off returning and want to do something for themselves other than the country or the countrymen.
2. Need to return due to family reasons. One of my friend returned right after he finished his undergrad to take care of his ailing mother. These cases are very rare.
3. There are few cases of people who return because they really want to do something back home. I am really impressed with people who give up HUGE oppurtunity here to go back home and do something. I am talking about people who are very successful here but decide to go back home giving up all the luxary and money here. I would not put the recent college graduates in this category.
4. And there are these fourth kind....who boast about his father owning about 100 ropanis of land back home and ne never has to work in his life and that is why he is moving back. I have noticed the numbers in this category is quite larger than no 2 and no 3 category.
