If you are a first time DSLR shooter, I'd recommend you to buy a cheaper one with less bells & whistles, like a T3. If you want something a little better, get rebel t1i or t2i. But if you have money and really like 60D, it's a very good camera. I'm not going to talk about the specifications because I'm pretty sure you already know that and have watched multiple reviews. New body sells for around 900. If you can find a used one with less than 2000 shutter acutations for 700-750, go for it. Buy a 50mm f1.8 prime instead of the 18-135mm kit. The kit lens is a solid all-around lens, but it's kinda slow under low light conditions. I used to have 60D and loved it. I'm bike-n-hike person and like to take pictures of animals, and I found 60D a bit bulky to carry around. Moreover, DSLR photography is quite expensive. I didn't want to keep on spending too much on lenses, so I sold my 60D and downgraded to a megazoom.
Another alternative to 60D is the new rebel t4i, the specs look really good and are neck-to-neck to that of 60D.
