30 years of Panchayat vs 24 years of Bahudal (Democracy)

I understand emotions run high when nation’s sovereignty is at stake and agreed the political scenario in Nepal is at its worst ever since the country’s consolidation and inception. But I ask myself if resorting back to Panchayat, or monarchy will be a viable solution in the long run. Monarchy had its own demons that we all now fail to admit. If we ponder through the years before democracy, Nepal was a peaceful nation just because we all found peace in subservience. Could Birendra have made a better Nepal at this moment if he were still alive? No doubt about it. But then it raises a question about an individual’s right and freedom. Also I challenge myself by asking if we choose to live in servitude than dodge a pelted stone every now and then , and the answer, given the current condition, might not be the latter. But maybe over hundred years things will change. We will be able to educate everyone in rural Nepal about the repercussions of believing in demagogues, or how they were beguiled and how to counter debauchery, something we couldn’t ever have dreamt about doing during monarchy because those who were close to palaces were beyond censure. Also, maybe we will then be able to decentralize Nepal and focus on every single villages outside valley in terms of education, resources, and opportunities – something that Shah regime failed to do and the current democracy has not even attempted. And THIS led to such chaos.

I might be whistling Dixie – I know. But every great nation’s path to splendor has started from a democratic form of government, especially capitalism (I might sound a little biased here, so my apologies). I wonder how I’d feel if a white supremacist wants to go back to the era of gun happy cowboys just because African Americans in the street of Detroit are running amok.
As I say this, I want to highlight that I do not have any political agenda in replying to this thread. I was born during the panchayat era, had never been taunted by the king and his allies and have no personal reason whatsoever. I just believe in the right form of government, even though our current leaders have failed us miserably.
If someone wishes to reply to my post, I humbly request him/her to reply without being belligerent. We all are mature individuals aren’t we?
