I prefer staying in OPT for 17 months. Believe me OPT is a golden opportunity given by USCIS to international student. So why you are thinking to waste it?
There are lots of advantages while in OPT. Like you You can save lot in taxes, and you don't have to worry about status if you get laid off or fire.
After you complete 10 months of your OPT extension, talk to your employer to file H1b and Green card after 1 or 2 months.
Filing Greencard before H1b is risky because you are applying Immigrant Visa while in Non-Immigrant Visa unlike H1b which is Dual intent visa.
