A very interesting topic. I was thinking of asking the same question. Here's what I have to say: People need some kind of sexual outlet, so I think it's possible to live a celibate life provided you can practice autoerotic activities. However, the real detriment to psychological health comes from not having loving, long term, intimate relationships with other human beings. So much of our self worth and happiness is derived from spending time with and receiving love from other people. Perhaps one could successfully live a celibate life IF they could masturbate AND they had lots of close friends and family to supplement their social behavior needs. Lets hear from others too.
