Nikon D3100 is an excellent DSLR. You're going to love it.
However, if your budget allows, I would pay little more and buy Nikon D5100 instead, but that's just me. There are plenty of reviews and comparisons online, even YouTube videos you can peruse to make an informed decision.
If you can wait couple of months, buy your camera on Cyber Monday, right after Thanksgiving holiday to get the best deal.
