Disclaimer: this is not a Memo just my personal opinion

" there are plenty of threads to choose from...n its up to the users"

I have a perfect anecdote for you.

Think about a library. Let's say there are few libraries in your neighborhood but you obviously go to the closest one because it's convenient, like it's convenient for Nepalis to be in Sajha rather than thousands of other online discussion forums.

You enjoy the mental stimulation provided by this library. Let's say a group of new patrons started visiting the same library and for them, the reason for their visit was for their own personal entertainment. They begin to have fun at the expense of others. Let's say they start heckling the other regular patrons. They pass nasty comments on everything so they can laugh about it. They swear and watch pornographic videos in public.

This is the time when the library management has to decide whether they want the library to be a public place for everyone who have common decency of respect to other fellow beings, or a place of anarchy where anyone is free to heckle, ridicule or offend anyone for no reason whatsoever.

In the library there are plenty of isles to choose from, just ignore these 'fun loving patrons' you say. But when these fun loving cool patrons start to prey on regular patrons in any isle they chose to be and start passing snide remarks, then the administration has to evaluate why the library is there in the first place.

The regular patrons who treat the library as a valuable asset begins to question it's value. It's just easier to go to another library where common etiquette is enforced.

In a real life library, there will not be this kind of behavior because of laws and social etiquette that discourage 'fun loving people' to have fun at other people's expense. But in a virtual libray, the anonimity gets rid of any inhibitions and there is no stigma attached to being found out as an intolerant and insensitive character, so if left unchecked, a handful of fun loving people can make it not so fun for everyone else.

As few as 5 people can effectively undermine the whole of a smooth running library by their boisterous behaviour if left unchecked.

Don't get me wrong however! Fun is good, but then again there is good fun that everyone can enjoy and fun at the expense of someone else. The latter kind might be fun among a group of friends amongst themselves, but never fun when someone who is unwilling is dragged into it. That begins to become co-ersive and not socially acceptable.

Today the difference between real and virtual are diminishing quickly and we have adapt to the reality of the situation and continue to treat each human being with respect both outside and inside of the virtual realm.

I may be accused of being too serious but that's all fine and good. Because you are right, I am serious about keeping it a clean source of information and fun for all.
