I see two possibilities here, ie. probability = 1/2 = 0.5 [Either you'll get it or you won't get it]
Total Possibilities=2
Success=1
Failure=1
Hence, Probability of Success= 1/2 = 0.5, Similary, Probability of Failure = 1/2 = 0.5
In words, you have 50% chance of getting asylum and 50% chance of not getting it.
