This is an entirely unexpected good news.
We have received a donation of US$ 36,108 to complete the remaining work of Dhulikhel Shelter. The money was sent by our generous Swiss donor, Dr Franz Schimid, who had donated US$20,000 several months ago. With that money, we have completed electrical, plumbing, painting, railing, cement-flooring and some other works. The works in the kitchen and bathroom have also been completed. Pictures will be sent to HeNN Global soon.
The new donation, among other things, will be used to build the wall around the shelter and to furnish it. As the shelter is in a very uneven location, building a wall around four ropanis of land is going to cost a lot. The remaining money will stay in a pot, which will be created to run the shelter. Meanwhile, Rajendra Shrestha, who has been leading/coordinating the work in the shelter, and others are working on the technical details to start the shelter as soon as it is ready. We are taking legal advice and also consulting with those who are already running children's homes.
About Dr Franz:
Franz is one of the strangest donors I have ever come across. We met him only once at the shelter itself and he was highly impressed by HeNN and our work. He promised to help us and sent the money immediately after he returned to Switzerland. After that, he never ever bothered to enquire about how the money was being spent. Whenever I sent him the updates, he used to send a short response saying that he would like to help us further.
When we received the above mentioned donation last week, we had no idea it was from him as the money came from the City Bank in New York with his charity's name, which we didn't know. He confirmed about the donation only after we made an enquiry.
Only good things can happen when good people work together!
