Happened to me while visiting a friend in DC some years ago.

The first night, it felt like somebody was sitting on my chest.  I could not move, nor could I make any noise.  In the morning, I did not think much of it.  Nepal-ma hunda pani bhayeko thiyo dherai choti.  Aithan laageko bhancha ni.

It happened again the next night.  Pretty much same experience and probably around the same time... about 1:30am or so.  I was more intrigued than scared.

The third night, I had told myself that I will be more vigilant so that if this happens again, I can wake up easily.  I also had a small red nightlight placed in the room.  It did not happen that night, per se.  But nindra pani ramrari laagena.  I was in and out of sleep.  From my half closed eyes I thought I could see someone at the base of my bed, on the right side.  It could've just been a fear induced nightmare.

The fourth night, I fell asleep early due to not getting enough shut-eye the previous night.  Then it happened.

Again I could not move or make any noise.  But I could open my eye a little because I could clearly see the digital clock on the dresser.  It was 1:32am.  On top of me was a shadow like entity.  It seemed to be looking at me directly, inches from my face, though I could not see any facial features.  But I did feel sort of cold sensation on my cheek.  I struggled really hard, without being able to move a muscle, and finally woke up with a jolt and immediately turned on the light.  Nobody was in the room.

Needless to say I did not stay there the following night.  I did not mention this to my friend because they had just bought that house couple of weeks before and had spent considerable amount of money on it.  "Eh saathi, timro naya ghar-ma ta tarsauda raicha," bhannu pani milena.

They did sell the house within a year.   I did not ask and they did not mention anything supernatural about it.  But I know they sold it at the loss of 150K.  I am choosing to blame that on recession and sinking home values, though I think I know the real reason.

After googleing what could've happened.  I stumbled upon this article.
