Rubel off to Bangladesh despite CIAA orders to keep watch on him

Rubel Chaudhary, the son-in-law of Nepali Congress (NC) leader Sujata Koirala, who has been in the limelight in the recent days on a number of cases, has flown to Bangladesh Sunday afternoon despite clear instructions from the Commission of Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) to police headquarters to keep a close watch on him, reports say.

Chaudhary left for Dhaka, Bangladesh this afternoon by a regular GMG Airlines flight, it is learnt.

CIAA had written to the police headquarters to keep close watch on Chaudhary saying it had received complaints about Chaudhary’s involvement in the illegal operation of Voice Over Internet Protocol (VOIP). CIAA had also asked the police to investigate charges against Chaudhary, collect evidences and file case against him as soon as possible.

He was not stopped at the airport although police were aware of his departure. Police do not have the authority to hinder the movement of anyone based on the CIAA’s directive only, a police official said.

Chaudhary is also suspected to be involved in the multi-million rupees scam while purchasing arms, logistics and Armed Personnel Carriers (APC)s for use of Nepal Police in Sudan.

He first came to limelight after former Crown Prince Paras Shah opened fire at him in Tiger Tops resort in Chitwan few months ago. nepalnews.com
