Does anyone have an experience transferring their H-1B from non-profit organization to for-profit company. I googled a lot and found some mixed reviews.
Some says i can't transfer and need to file a new H-1B for a cap-count company, while others says it can be transferred under portability law.
Also even if i apply for the transfer OR apply for new H-1B and it gets approved before October 1, do i have to stop working till Oct. 1 or due to portability law i can continue working?
i found these two sources:
This one might be more reliable as lots of experts give their views in murthy.com but is dated back to 2007
http://www.murthy.com/news/n_h1bemp.html
this one is more recent source, but don't know if the law has been changed in between 2007 and 2011

So, if anyone has faced similar situation, please share your experience. Thank you
