Well, getting into Ivy League is a big thing for those who does not have any political connection. Plus once you are in one Ivy League the doors open automatically for him/her. Guess what, not all those who has capacity, incredible abilites can make into ivy league. I know very few about mr pukar, but i think his family are from palpa and his dad was high ranked govt official, he went to St. Xavier..so link starts from right there. The question is do we really need to proud of him? I do not think so. Yes we should really be happy for him as one nepali heads into graduate student council, this will create very posetive atmosphere over there. But most of Ivy league graduates are constantly seeking for improving their resume than making most of it for themselves only. So unless anyone make any tangible contribution to our society, i think we should not make him/ or her hero, that would be insult to those who are real hero, doing great job back home.

Btw, ex election comissioner mr. bhoj raj pokhrel is also in HARVARD, Kennedy School doing MPA I guess. Would he have good grades back home? Would  he have  taken GMAT/TOEFL/GRE I doubt, let alone the good score? It is all political connection. And if he were admitted on his experience basis, then would not you admitt a young NEPALI from rural viallage who would have entire life to contribute back than old guy mr pokhrel who is in retireing age?

In Pukar's case, he is very much into party life and media, but there are many nepalies already been into harvard, princeton, cornell, columbia, and so on..here are few renowns ivy graduates nepali - Dr. Ambika Prashad Adhikari, Dr. Kul Chandra Gautam, Dr. Jagdish Chandara Pokhrel..
