A delegation of NRN National Coordination Council of USA met with Deputy Prime Minister of Nepal Mr. Bharat Mohan Adhikari and presented a memorandum. NRN NCC of USA’s delegation was led by President Mr. Suman R Timsina and he was joined by media coordinator Mr. Ram Kharel and executive members Mr. Dilliraj Poudel and Mr. Milan Rai. They presented a memorandum congratulating Deputy PM Mr. Adhikari for signing a historical Trade and Investment Framework Agreement (TIFA) with USA. They discussed how it will create new opportunities and environment for NRNs from US and other investors and will make Nepal an ideal investment destination.

Further, Mr. Adhikari informed delegation about current energy crisis and how government is appealing NRNs to make investment in hydro power sector during this period of energy crisis. He shared a public statement about Government’s Thinking and Future Program to Solve the Current Energy Crisis presented by himself on March 23, 2011. It clearly outlines that a necessary arrangement will be made for the NRNs to construct one hydro power project above 100 MW.

NRNNCC of USA highlighted and appreciated work of Ambassador Dr. Shankar P. Sharma and his outreach to NRN community and US law makers. They further added that NRN Association will continue to work with His Excellency Ambassador Sharma to give continuity to his work on Nepal Caucus in US Congress. They requested Dy PM to mutually develop a process to engage NRNs worldwide to influence their host countries and their policies in favor of Nepal. Dy. PM agreed and agreed to discuss it with the Prime Minister and offered to host an interaction with NRN Community on this subject.

The delegation also requested government to expedite the process of completing a constitution delays have adversely impacted Nepal’s reputation, stability and development process.
