I think private schools in nepal are overrated. Most of them thirve on stereotype that teaching in English is the greatest that could be done in the name of education. I am sure that there are Nepali text books (atleast there was what they called Samajik Sikcha and Mahendra Mala) where they have stated those things about Nepal (whether it's important to know about them or not is a different issue).
I came from a jesuit run school, which to some extent was hyped as english medium school, but well I never felt that anyone displayed any animosity towards stuff taught in Nepali. Even the volunteers from USA  coming and teaching there made the best use of the our My Engish book or Optional English and seemed pretty respectful towards what we had then as our course material.

It's ridiculous when one claims that there are not enough text materials from Nepal. A leading school like that should be able to technology currently available not force people to buy unnecessary books.

Personally speaking,, having come this far in my career I feel that the school course work is so much of junk that atleast for me has been of very little use, except for some maths and physics. I wish there were better teachers teaching those courses that it made better sense while learning them in school rather than reaching all the way to college and figuring them out as if my eyes have just opened up. I now wonder why SLC was considered iron gate,,it's bull sh*t.

One of the things that makes me sad about schools in Nepal is that most of them are more expensive than NIT's, REC's and IIT's (considered as top notch) in India for Indians. And the outcome from most of those schools are the teenagers who can yap yap all day long in Nep-lish but lack the very basic knowledge other than that in maths and science. I really wonder why we were forced to do handwriting assignments in school that I dont need it at all now (my typing is good and I can use good looking fonts). My handwriting is horrible compared to what it used to be,,but i dont care.

I think that school education system in Nepal needs to change and be affordable that the ones who have the capacity to learn can get the opportunity to learn ( and not just for rich daddy's kids).

Great that Galaxy and Ratobangala leads in race in being the most expensive schools. Some of the friends I met in my undergrad who did not do their schooling in so called english medium school from kathmandu were far better intellectually than me ( not that there was no one from my school  were pretty smart) and are doing exceptionally well in their career.

I guess as long as some of the stereotypes prevailing in the nepali society could not eradicated,,this trend will continue and rich daddy's kids will continue going to expensive schools and act like they are the best people on the face of earth.

Oh yeah another fact: I think my engilish improved significantly by reading the science and engineering textbooks which are mostly in English rather than by being forced to read the english stories in school days.

Well good luck Gita Rana "Miss",,hopefully you will be Nepali billionaire someday, with the money you make from your school.
