"I burst into tears when I heard the news. I am a very scared and do not want to go home, "says Priyanka Thapa, 23 years Nepal has been refused a residence permit based on humanitarian considerations in Iceland. Priyanka faced with having to go back to Nepal and married forty man that she has never met, to save his family from bitter poverty.
Priyanka has worked as barnfóstra eight human family in this country. The family has taken her with open arms and invited her to stay with him. Priyanka has also been learning education in engineering and Biochemistry at the háskólabrú cone with remarkably good results. She graduated in May and plans for further study in drug-or chemical.
Priyanka told her story The article last Christmas Eve. There revealed that she grew up with single mother who can no longer provide for people with disabilities or health of her son. It took her to the council to give Priyönku.
"My life is basically over if I go back home. Wait until my old men and harsh circumstances - really just slavery, "said Priyanka, who had hoped to be able to create on in Iceland, got a job alongside their studies and provide for his family that way.
Immigration has determined that Priyanka does not meet the criteria for residence based on humanitarian considerations. The decision quoted an email from Priyönku brother, who encourages her to marry a man, otherwise go badly for the entire family. She will be in addition to the family to shame because the man had been promised to marry her. She is requested to inform their decision as soon as she can and is asked to please come home.
Immigration believes that since brother Priyönku ask her to inform the "decision" her and that she is "please" asked to come home it is really a discretion whether or not she married her husband.
The Agency considers nothing to suggest that Priyanka go back to Nepal if it is forced into marriage or to inhuman or degrading treatment is waiting her. And if Priyanka says have a brighter future and better opportunities to study in Iceland believes that immigration alone is not reason to grant her a residence permit.
The ruling stated that the Agency has reviewed data concerning the rights of women in Nepal, including marriages, which were taken into account in the decision in a case Priyönku. There is, among other things cited in the Norwegian Immigration Studies, which confirmed that the tradition in Nepal was that the parents decided spouses for their children and when they were married. Family's social status, education and finance would affect the choice of spouse.
Studies showed, however, that attitudes to this arrangement were to change; marriages where the parties themselves decided makaval increasing its range and tolerance for such marriages was increasing. Immigration believes that this attitude also slipping foundation that Priyanka will not be forced into a marriage she does return to his home.
