Sorry to hear that your friend has flu. I work at a hospital and these are the things we tell out patients. Hopefully it'll work for your friend.

Drink plenty of liquids -  water, juice and warm soups to prevent dehydration. Drink Orange juice (Vitamin C).
* Rest - Get more sleep to help immune system fight infection.
* Pain relievers- Use an over-the-counter pain reliever such as Tylenol, Advil, Aleve, etc...... Do not overdose on the pain killers.
Hand washing - Wash hands frequently . Swine flu is transmitted into the body through the mouth and nose. Cover Nose and Mouth while sneezing or coughing.
* Avoid

If you friend has high grade fever or he/she is still not feeling better in next 3 to 4 days the best thing would be to take him/her to Walk in clinic, they are much cheaper than doctor's office. If the symptoms gets worst take him/her to Urgent Care or ER.
