What is the preferred weapon of gangsters?

Well carrying around most weapons is sort of gangster in itself. So it is a lot easier to say what weapons are NOT "gangster" than which are. The following are not typical criminal weapons:
-Matched pair engraved shotguns
-Revolvers in general, the more ornamental, antiquated, and of odd high calibre the better
-Ankle holsters
-Pepper spray
-Heckler & Koch, Kimber, Steyr automatics
-Anything chambered in .375 H&H. Big game hunting and safari isn't something most gangsters are in to
-Muzzle loading firearms. Not many times have I heard of being mugged by someone damanding "your money or your life" while holding a 7' long blunderbuss from the time when there was still a country called Prussia.

Preferred weapons of gangsters are innumerable but here are some of the tops:
1.) Small calibre pistols in general, 22LR target guns excepted
2.) Glocks, I understand they are durable, but
3.) Knives in general- many outlaw types either can't buy a gun legally or cannot afford to get caught with one illegally
