I guess you need brush up with History!!
The Dispute over Everest's Summit was resolved during BP Koirala's meeting with Chairman Mao on his China Visit!! (~1960)
-My Source: BP's Atmabrittanta (his Memoir)
And till this date Mt Everest act as a Border between Nepal and China, that is why we have two ascending path South Side (easier side from Nepal) and North side (tougher to scale from China/Tibet side)!!
