Baburam Vs Prachanda

Good question.
First of all, I am certainly not a maoist and I don't like to be affiliated to any political parties. I have been a big opponent of the maoist "revolution" but now we have to think about our country's future hence we have to march forth.

From what I have read, seen and heard, there are very few politicians who we can be hopeful about and even fewer who have the power to lead the country. Baburam is one of them.

I think Prachanda has already proven that he is not qualified to be in the power position, he is best suited for an opposition leader role. He can get an army of cadres excited, he can give motivational speech but can he lead the whole country with varying opinions? No. His infamous tape and failure to lead Nepal during his PM position has exposed him. He doesn't even seem to be the "brain" behind his own party, he tries to come up with a policy that Vaidya and Baburam propose and is not much of a thinker. His interaction program in New York was evidence of it, he certainly is NOT the best leader we have.

On the other hand, Baburam has shown some potentials. He had warned against the recent big Kathmandu bandha that Maoist had called on which the party fell flat on its face. He understands that fighting with India is not the way to get our rights back, rather a diplomatic and strategic methodology has to be adapted. His financial policies weren't all hailed well but they were better than what we have seen recently.

In all, we have already seen what Dahal can do. It is now time to see what Baburam can do, he deserves the benefit of doubt at this time. Let him lead and if he falters/fails, which is highly possible given the hostile environment within his own party, then we can all sit down with our head in our hand.
