Only problem I have with the youtube video posted above is the fact that they fail to mention required dsl/cable internet.  Sort of like a false advertisement.  Or they just assumed that who ever are interested in their service already have internet connection back home.

There are multiple ways to implement free voip services back home if you already have a dsl/cable internet.

One way is to get a SIP device and a sip number. Sipgate provides free SIP number and free incoming calls. (need to buy a SIP device). No monthly fees.

One can also get a Skype phone. Which works pretty good.  Again no monthly fees. This I think is the easiest way to go for non techie family back home. One can even get a free skypein number from ring2skype.com

If one has a wifi router back home (use inverter to power up when no power, since it requires very little power), use wifi enabled phones ie: Nokia, Droid, iphone or itouch along with Skype or SIP apps.

I don't like magicjack because it requires a pc/laptop.  netTalk duo is better since it doesn't require a pc/laptop.  Again you can power up your router and nettalk duo with inverter when there is no power.
