Before we condemn the Haitian mass or slander our own troops, a little bit of research is warranted.

This 2005 report shows that Nepal didn’t report any cholera case. This is an old report and no report doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist, but it atleast doesn’t make our case weak.

In 2008 there a cholera outbreak in Zimbabwe.

The strain found in Haiti resembles the strains that are found in South Asia.

They have found the point of origin of the outbreak and it is where the Nepali troops were located.

Haiti will have a major election in coming weeks. Politicians can thus provoke the mass to claim their leadership OR to create unrest in the country before election.

UN has denied that its troop brought the disease, but it is in its interest to do so.

There has been no report of any of the UN peace keeping force, including Nepali, reporting a cholera infection.

These are the facts. Unless more facts are produced, you cannot refute NOR can you confirm that we started it. But instead of pointing fingers, what is important is that they act immediately to combat this disease. Even if we brought it there, we didn’t intend to do it. Do we charge them for HIV now?  But before we start cursing on the Haitians, understand that it is fueled by the politicians who are rallying up the uneducated poors.
