There are many tools available. One of them is "Nero" that can do the trick in very simple steps if you are burning mp3 to .cda audio.

If you have mpg video and want to convert to mp3 or any other format, the one I use is Format Factory. FF is free and can be downloaded from pcfreetime.com.

I have seen the option of doing all above in Window Media Player but never tried that.
