it is the people who sacrifices animals .. the religion never asked for sacrifices ... and as far as i know people believing in other religion eat meat too .. does that make any difference ..

"Meat cannot be obtained without injury to animals, and the slaughter of animals obstructs the way to Heaven; let him therefore shun the use of meat." The Laws of Manu V, 45 - 52 

"It is therefore the duty of all scripturally and morally conscientious Hindus to embrace a strictly vegetarian diet, avoiding all forms of meat, fish, and eggs."
