TIBETAN attitude towards Nepal

Hi Lamak,

I saw some of the posts you provided link of. Needless to say, I am ashamed of those who wrote racists slur there, but you should also pay attention to the fact that several of the Nepalese politicians have attended programs of Tibetans despite protests from Chinese embassy. Awhile ago, some MPs even went to pay homage to his holiness the Dalai Lama despite Chinese protest. This all point to the fact there are significant number of Nepalese who value Tibetans among us.

Given uncomfortable (at times) relation between India and China, we can't antagonize China, and yet, we have done what we could for Tibetans. If you remember how Chinese ambassador was angry last year (Nepal police arrests and release the protestors so they can protest the next day was his accusation), you understand Nepali situation. In the past, when Indira Gandhi was almost about to annex Nepal (she did so to Sikkim), we were in no position to antagonize china and yet we found a way to strike a balance between our support of Tibetan cause and our desire to keep China happy.

We all know that Tibetans have  been given citizenship in a wink-wink policy. (Of course, Tibetan contribution to Nepal is huge too). I won't blame them if they tear apart citizenship when they come abroad, because outside of Tibet, I am sure all other countries are same for them. But we must have goodwill for each other. (and like your parents, I am sure lots of Tibetans believe that Nepal is the closest to their homeland in its topography and culture)
