Huge cache of explosive materials recovered in capital

KATHMANDU: Police on
Thursday recovered a huge cache of materials used for making explosive
devices from Seti Mahakali Hotel & Lodge at Sundhara ahead of
UCPN-Maoist's May Day demonstration to be followed by an indefinite
nationwide general strike.
Acting on a tipoff, a team from the Metropolitan Police Range (MPR),
Hanumandhoka, captured the raw materials from room no. 103 of the lodge,
which was booked by Krishna Ghimire of Kupandole, Lalitpur on Wednesday
evening.
SP Ramesh Prasad Kharel, the in-charge at MPR, said that six drums
containing 400 litres of petrol, two sacks of slingshot and marble each,
10 sacks of empty bottle, six sacks of sawdust, seven scissors and
three rolls of fabric were among the materials recovered from the hotel.
Police have detained Ajab Pandey, the hotel owner, suspecting his
hand in the crime.
Meanwhile, Police have tightened security check in the capital to
avoid any untoward consequences during during the UCPN-Maoist's
demonstration.
Police has intensified its raids on places like restaurants, hotels,
lodges, etc, which could be the places of possible hide out.
