The sub-committee of the Parliamentary Women and Children has concluded that Nepal Army personnel were responsible for the murder of three women in Bardiya National Park one month ago and has recommended trail against the accused in civilian court.

The report published on Wednesday mentioned that NA tried to cover the facts by forcing policemen to sign the incident inspection report that was favourable to it. NA had claimed the deceased were poachers and were killed in encounter.

The sub-committee under the leadership Dr Harihar Wosti after field investigation said the two women and a 12-yr-old girl might have been raped before being killed. However, saying there are no strong evidences of rape, the sub-committee urged the government to carry out vaginal tests to confirm this.

Earlier, National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) had refuted allegations that NA personnel raped the women before killing the women who had gone inside the national park to fetch barks of trees.

The parliamentary sub-committee has suggested the government to provide compensation of Rs 1 million to the family of each of the deceased.nepalnews.com
