Most Nepalese as a nation can be proud of only things they are born with because they have very little or none to have achieved to be proud about.
The prime examples to boast about, of course, are Mount Everest and Gautam Buddha.
Mount Everest was created by shifting tectonic plates which is just a natural phenomenon. An Indian ruler built the Taj Mahal, that still to this day, bedazzles architecture connoisseurs from the world over. Can we Nepalese offer a man-made counterpart that can remotely rival the Taj? Absolutely none of course. This name "Everest" itself is not even a Nepalese word. See, we can't even popularize our own version of the name for our very own mountain.
Speaking of Gautam Buddha, he happened to be born in present day Nepal. Again this is just another matter of chance. His mom Mayawati could have delivered the baby on the Indian side, a couple of hours too early or a couple of hours too late while criss-crossing along the current border as a needle sewing two pieces of cloths would look.
The fact might change soon, though I am not excited about it. And it could be "Buddha was born in India". Nepal has been a Hindu-dominated society for centuries and the elites had channeled all the resources to Pashupati Bikaas Kosh and none to Lumbini for their own status-quo maintaining agenda. Now with fake Kapilvastu rising up and sh!t, the day of awakening has finally dawned upon the Nepalese. The subject of "Where was Buddha born?" is like a story of a neglected wife who has met a new man then the soon-to-be ex-husband has re-discovered why he wants to continue being with her.
Some other things most Nepalese can be proud of are :
Finally, Buddha himself would be disappointed to find people fighting amongst themselves regarding his birth-place instead of practicing what he tried to teach us.

Some other things most Nepalese can be proud of are :
- I am from a Royal, Brahman or Kshatriya (and not a Vaishya or Shudra) blood for my dad happened to have an erection while my mom was ovulating.
- I am the [unemployed] son/daughter of a millionaire father who started working when he was in his pre-teen years to help support his younger silblings.
- I am the son/daughter of a Minister who came to Kathmandu with only a pair of Daura Suruwal and who now owns several prime real estate locations throughout the Capital. Therefore, I never felt the need to work. Do you know that even Warren Buffet's (the Oracle of Omaha) niece works in a regular job to contribute to human civilization.
Finally, Buddha himself would be disappointed to find people fighting amongst themselves regarding his birth-place instead of practicing what he tried to teach us.
