There are two type of Christian religious doctrine that have their own take on Evolutionary biology and I don't know which one this university belongs to.

Old Earth creationist believes in evolution and they believe that God started the process.
New Earth creationist believe in Intelligent design theory and believe earth is mere 5000-6000 years old and people co-existed with Dinosaurs.

So being religious doesn't mean that people don't believe in evolution.
