Bahun, the more intense your workout, the better your results. In other words, running at a fast pace would definitely equal walking for a longer period. For best results, try Interval training ( i.e. sprinting fast for 1-2 mins then jogging for the next 4-5 mins ).
But again, you're not paying attention to what some of us have said. By running at 4.5 mph/ you will burn about 500-600 calories in 20-30 mins. That's nothing! If you did weight training, you'll be blasting and attacking fat from your neck, chest, thigh, legs and balls!
So don't I'm not gonna say "Run bahun run" - instead, do varieties of exercises.
To answer your original question, yes, you'll be burning more calories by taking the stairs but again, it depends on the intensity.
