Some of the notable cases of ethnic federalism have contributed the worst in the post World War II world.
Look at the list of nations:
Yugoslavia:
Bosnia vs Herzegovina
Kosovo, Serbia and croatia
Macedonia
Result: 10s of years of ethnic clashes , millions of lives lost , disintegration of nations and NATO intervention.
Previous USSR:
Rise of fundamentalism in Azerbaijan, Afgazhia , Chehenya , Modova, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Kirgizistan, Dagestan, Armenia , Ukrain, Belarus, Georgia etc.
Result: rise of ethnic division , millions of lives lost and post conflict division and trauma among people has increased to unmanageable proportion.
The crimes committed against Humanity in Rwanda , Burundi and present day Sudan are there and Just yesterday Ethnic federal state of Nigeria ( whose example is often cited in Nepal ) experienced the hacking into death of 500 people within 3 hours. Nigeria started with three states for three races but now has 36 within years and this nation's woes are only increasing with the passing of time.
Could anyone point out a nation from the third world which has experienced a best performing ethnic federal with a non-dictatorial state polity in the present time ?
The above are the best known ethnic federalism models in our recent memory . If anyone other than Maoists ( who are hell bent to disintegrate the nation and destroy it ) and the ethnic feudals ( who want to rule their ethnic enclaves ) believes that ethnic federalism will function in this erstwhile Nepal , then he has lost his sanity. It is unworkable and dysfunctional .
