Well atleast Radiohead is making some sense. I see your point. However, when we use a collective noun from a caste group or race to refer to something then most of the time it becomes derogatory.
Black OR White is not a derogatory. However the context can make it derogatory. All blacks like KFC becomes a racial statement, even though I am sure some of the Sajhaites won’t agree here; just ask your African-american friends.
When you say jyapus making momo, I sense slight “profilism” to the extent of being derogatory.
If you understand this you understand my point. If not then I rest my case.
