Bahuns unhappy with ethnicity-based federalism:-

Rastriya Brahmin Samaj has stated that it is utterly not in favor of national interest to carve out federal states based on ethnicity, asserting it is injustice to place Bahun-Chhetri in the category of other castes, state-owned news agency RSS reports.

Organizing a press conference in the capital on Wednesday, the Samaj demanded that the ethnic glory, self-esteem and rights of Bahuns be protected, claiming ethnicity-based and federal states are detrimental to the state.

Ethnic reservation is impractical and unscientific, and the words such as indigenous nationalities have been identified in an autonomous way, the Samaj concluded.

Central Chairperson of the Rastriya Brahmin Samaj Narayan Prasad Adhikari said there was no need to explore the existence of Bahuns "who have been the inhabitants of the country for the last thousand years". nepalnews.com
