jjbajra,

I was in your shoes a couple years back. Lost my Passport, I-94, Visa. I did have a year left on my f1 visa. The only exception- i had gone form a small (community college-esque) school to a better university. I had to get new passport (a huge hassle, couldn't believe the Nepali consulate in DC worked in ways goverment offices back home would i.e. you needed to have ties with the elite so and so). I booked an appointment at the Calgary consulate after numerous (read-a million) tries. Got my Canada visit visa stamped from Seattle and flew off north scared and anxious. This was back in 05/06 and i don't recall everything. I remember going to nova scotia bank to pay for the their fees. They don't allow you to take any eletronics, bags etc in the building so go prepared. Once inside wait for them to display you call no. Person #1 will collect your application, documents and review the whole packet. In my case, the PP picture wasn't recent enough so had to run out and get a new one taken instantly! yikes! ( i almost shit my pants!). So, word of advice- if you do not want any extra shock to your already budding jitters, prepare everything in advance! Once the person #1 gives you a green light, wait for Person #2 to call you for an interview. In my case, he just asked the reason for applying a visa, my major in school, and my anticipated graduation date. I don't recall any out of ordinary questions like why i came to CA instead of KTM etc..However, please note that i had na-na thari documents such as police report of missing items and such so just be prepared to back up any reasons you give them. (Personally speaking, i don't think any sane person would bar you from going back to school to finish up your studies) Let me know if you need any additional info. Good Luck!
